What do I need to become a freelancer?
You will need the following information to register as a freelancer:
1. Personal information:
a. Name
b. DOB
c. Address
d. Gender
e. Email address
f. Phone number
2. Business Information:
a. ABN (Australian Business Number)
b. If you are registered for GST
c. Business trading name
d. Tagline
e. Description
3. Introduction video to include:
a. Introduce yourself
b. Describe your experience and skill set
c. Explain what services you can provide
d. Add a “call to action” statement

3. Freelancer Information:
a. How far are you able to travel?
i. Freelancer will go to customer
ii. Customer will go to freelancer; Enter address
iii. At my business; Enter address

8. You will need to add a bank account to get paid for your services, we will require

e. You have the option to store your bank account as a default bank account
9. Portfolio images to showcase your work which may assure any potential customers you are the right freelancer for the job
10. Verify your freelancer profile, for safety of all our members’ freelancers will need to verify their profile. BeMyFreelancer will verify the below:
a. Email and Phone (this must already be verified under Personal Information)
b. Video and images are in accordance with our Code of Conduct
c. You will have at least one skill set completed

Am I a BeMyFreelancer employee?
No, you are not employed by BeMyFreelancer but freelancers are independent contractors
Why do I need an ABN?
As you will be working as a contractor you need to have an ABN for tax purposes
How do I get an ABN?
You can register for an ABN through the Australian Business Registra (www.abr.gov.au) or use a third party
Do I need to register for GST?
You need to follow the current Australian Legislation, if your total business income is greater than $75,000 you must be registered for GST. While BeMyFreelancer does not monitor your GST thresholds this information is offered for general advice purposes
How do I find customers?
Freelancers cannot find customers but can view or bid for the jobs on your Job Noticeboard when your Freelancer Hub
What is an ongoing session?
Ongoing session allows customers to book up to 10 sessions
Can I cancel an ongoing booking?
Yes, you can view our Cancellation Policy here
How far in advance should I accept a booking?
BeMyFreelancer allows you to accept a booking as far in advance and at a freelancers’ discretion
What happens after I confirm a booking/job?
1. Your customer will receive a notification
2. Your customer will meet you at the selected date, time and location
3. You will need to select Job Completed
4. Customer will then Release Payment
How do I search for jobs?
1. Log in to your profile
2. Select Job Noticeboard
My customer wants to edit their booking/job with me after I accepted, what should I do?
When a customer edits their booking/job you will see “Confirm Booking Edit” on your Booking Form. You can view the changes which have been requested by the customer, you have the option to “Accept Changes” or “Decline”. If you would like to make further changes to your booking/job you can use our message function to chat to your customer however, it will need to be updated on our system to ensure the booking/job details are up to date.
How do I reschedule a booking?
You can reschedule by selecting “Request a Change” however, you will need to wait for the customer to “Accept Changes”

How do I cancel a booking?
1. Log in to your profile
2. Go to your Booking Form
3. Scroll down to “Booking Options”
4. Select “Cancel Booking”, if you are cancelling a session you will need to select the session which you are wanting to cancel

My booking needs to be cancelled but some work has already been completed, what are my options?
If some work has been completed on your booking, you will need to discuss with your customer the amount which should be invoiced. If you are not able to come to an agreement you can contact our Customer Support and provide:
1. Booking number
2. Customer name
3. Details on what has been completed
Can I contact a customer before accepting a job?
No, you can only contact the customer once you have accepted customer’s request
How do I contact my customer?
1. Log in to your profile
2. Go to My Bookings
3. Select View Booking
4. Select Add Message
5. Click Reply
6. Freelancer will receive a notification of the message
Why should I contact my customer?
You should contact the customer to arrange details of their request. This could also be a good opportunity for customers to answer any questions which you may have
How do I contact my customer after the job has been completed?
1. Log into your profile
2. Go to My Bookings
3. Select View Order
4. On the Order Page, you will be able to message the freelancer. It also allows you to Book Again
5. Select Message Me on customer’s profile
6. Click Send
7. You can only contact the freelancer for 24 hours after the job has been completed
Why does the message thread automatically close?
Message Thread will only last for 24 hours after the job has been completed. This is to ensure we meet our Privacy Policy obligations. You can view our Privacy Policy here
My customer is late, what should I do?
If your customer is late you can contact them via Message on your Booking Form to get an update on their ETA
Should I give my customer my contact information?
Yes, this will help customers to get in touch with you. If you do not feel comfortable giving your contact information you have the option to communicate to them through the Message function
Why do you need my bank account details?
We require your bank account details so we are able to deposit money in to your account
How do I setup my direct deposit?
1. Log into your BeMyFreelancer profile
2. Select Payment Portal
3. Add bank account details
a. Bank of Institution
b. Account name
c. BSB
d. Account number
e. You have the option to store this bank account as a default account
f. Click Add

If you are having trouble adding your bank details, please contact our Customer Support team, you may also need to double check to ensure you are inputting correct information
How do I price my services?
BeMyFreelancer are not involved in pricing services and it is up to the freelancer how they price their services
How do I receive payment from my customers?
All payments on BeMyFreelancer go through Stripe, here are the steps:
1. Freelancer will confirm the “Job Completed”
2. Customer will select “Release Payment”
3. Payment will be released to Freelancer within 3 to 5 business days
What is the BeMyFreelancer fee?
BeMyFreelancer’s service fee is 15% which will automatically be deducted when the payment is completed.
My invoice is incorrect, what should I do?
If there is an issue with your invoice, please contact our Customer Support with the following information:
1. Invoice number
2. What is incorrect on the invoice
My booking was cancelled, Will I get paid?
If a customer cancels a job within 48 hours of it start-time, customer may be charged a non-refundable fee. You can view our Cancellation Policy here.
Should I accept a tip from my customer?
Accepting a tip from a customer is at freelancer’s discretion.
Why should I respond to reviews and ratings for my services?
Responding to reviews shows freelancers value customer’s and the feedback they have provided
How do I respond to a review?
You cannot respond to a review.
What are the review and rating guidelines?
1. Be transparent, honest and detailed
2. Do not respond to reviews which can be misleading
3. Provide constructive responses
4. Do not post anything inappropriate. All reviews should be in accordance with our Terms and Conditions and Code of Conduct. BeMyFreelancer reserves the right to delete reviews if we deem them as:
i. Online bullying
ii. Harassment
iii. Inappropriate comments (racially or sexually orientated)
iv. Use of profanity
v. Breach of privacy
5. Any review about the website itself should be sent to our Customer Support
6. Proof read your responses
My customer has left an unfair review and rating, what should I do?
If a customer has left an unfair review and rating you will need to contact our Customer Support Team so we can investigate internally, you will need to provide:
1. Job number
2. Customer name
3. Description of the unfair review and rating
Can BeMyFreelancer remove a review or rating?
BeMyFreelancer reserves the right of deleting any review which is not in line with our Code of Conduct
Can I take photos of my services to grow my portfolio?
You will need to seek approval from customers to take photos. If a photo has been uploaded without customer’s approval BeMyFreelancer reserves the right to take the photo down
How do I add photos to my BeMyFreelancer portfolio?
1. Log into your BeMyFreelancer profile
2. Select Freelancer Hub
3. Scroll down to Portfolio Images
4. Click the Add
5. You can add as many images as you wish
How do I share my BeMyFreelancer profile with social media?
1. Log in to your profile
2. Select Freelancer Hub
3. Scroll down to Social Media
4. Select the platform where you would like to share the images
5. Upload photo
I would like to report my customer?
At BeMyFreelancer we take trust and safety of our freelancers and customers very seriously. If the customer has violated the Code of Conduct & Trust and Safety you can report the booking by:
1. Log in to your profile
2. Select My Bookings
3. Scroll down to Booking Options
4. Select Report this booking
My customer has reported me, what happens now?
If you have been reported by a customer, we will undergo our own investigation and get in touch with you, we will provide you time to respond to customer’s report. If our investigation finds you were in violation of our Code of Conduct & Trust and Safety, we may reserve the right to deactivate your account.
